Details

Bellavista has street art everywhere and Pablo Neruda's house La Chascona. It's just north of the Mapocho River below Cerro San Cristóbal. The place completely changes between day and night. During the day you can check out galleries, craft shops, and Patio Bellavista's restaurants. Families walk around, creative vibe. After dark it becomes the nightlife center. Pío Nono Street fills up with people going to bars, live music, and clubs that don't even open until midnight. The energy is there but so are the safety problems - theft is common at night. Most people visit during the day then go back to Providencia or Las Condes for dinner. If you do go out at night, stay in a group, hide your valuables, and take Uber or Cabify home instead of walking. Worth seeing for the culture and art, just pick your timing carefully.
