Granada, Spain
Safe, quiet residential area with students and families. Good for budget accommodation and authentic local life, but you'll travel to other neighborhoods for dining, nightlife, and sights.
A residential neighborhood about 10 minutes from the Cathedral along Camino de Ronda. Popular with university students and local families. This is where actual Granada residents live - parents dropping kids at school, students heading to campus, people shopping at corner stores and local markets. No tourists, which means authentic Granada life but also very little English beyond basic phrases. Quiet, safe residential feel with families and students around during the day and early evening. Small neighborhood cafes for morning coffee, restaurants with huge portions at prices below the tourist center. Solo dining is less common because it's not a restaurant district, but the few local spots are friendly. Safe area with good lighting on main streets, though it gets quiet after 10pm when people go inside. Fine for walking in the evening, just very residential and calm. Think of it as a budget-friendly base for experiencing real Granada, but you'll take buses or walk 10-15 minutes to reach restaurants, nightlife, and attractions in Centro or Realejo.

The best tapas neighborhood with a young, creative vibe. Safer and more local than the tourist center, still walkable to the main sights. Good area for eating alone at bar counters where that's the norm.
The main tourist zone with the Cathedral, famous tapas bars, and best connectivity. Safe, well-lit, English widely spoken. Convenient but generic - doesn't have the character of other neighborhoods.
The most scenic part of Granada with Moorish architecture and Alhambra views. Go during the day when it's busy. At night, the dark narrow streets in the residential areas aren't worth the risk - take the minibus instead.
