Summary

Embassy district with maximum security from guards, police, and surveillance. Very safe but isolated from everything - restaurants, cafes, nightlife, cultural experiences. Mostly villas and diplomatic residences. You'll taxi to other neighborhoods for activities. A secure base if safety is the priority, but no Moroccan atmosphere or things to do nearby.

Details

Embassy district where diplomats and wealthy Moroccans live behind gates in villas. U.S. Embassy is on Avenue Mohamed VI along with UAE, Greece, Bahrain, and other embassies. Heavy security - private guards, police patrols, surveillance cameras. Quiet, green, residential. Feels like a suburb more than city center. During the day you'll see domestic workers at markets, nannies with kids, embassy cars. Not many restaurants or cafes - it's mostly residential. What exists serves diplomats, so higher prices and international menus. Calm and secure but completely isolated from Moroccan culture. Could be an embassy district anywhere. Good if you want maximum safety and don't care about being far from everything. You'll need to taxi to Agdal, Ville Nouvelle, or the Medina for food, nightlife, cultural experiences. More of a base to sleep than somewhere to spend time.

Peaceful and photogenicHistoric fortress atmosphereStunning ocean and river views+2

12th-century fortress turned residential area with blue-and-white streets and river views. Café Maure has the terrace everyone sits at. Andalusian gardens and small museum inside. Free entry, busy during the day, safe to walk around. People actually live here so it's active into the evening.
