Rabat, Morocco
Business district with office buildings, upscale restaurants, and The Cedar rooftop bar. Very safe with good security. Professional older crowd, not much nightlife. Expensive dining options. Feels corporate and international - lacks Moroccan character and cultural authenticity.
Business district from the 1970s with office buildings and corporate atmosphere. During the day it's business people in suits moving between meetings. Evenings bring professionals to upscale restaurants - Latium for Italian, Fauchon for coffee and pastries. The View Hotel has The Cedar rooftop bar on the 14th floor with city views, cocktails, and sometimes live music. Older professional crowd compared to Agdal's students - business dinners and networking, not casual hangouts. Good security with private guards at buildings, well-lit streets, regular police patrols since it's a financial area. Gets quiet in evenings even with the restaurants - people have dinner and go home, no real nightlife scene. Feels sterile and international, not much Moroccan character. Safe and upscale but isolated from cultural experiences or local street life.

Government and monuments district with Hassan Tower, Royal Palace, and administrative buildings. Heavy police presence makes it very safe. Good for daytime sightseeing and lunch. Quieter at night with limited dining and nightlife - most people leave for other neighborhoods in the evening.
12th-century fortress turned residential area with blue-and-white streets and river views. Café Maure has the terrace everyone sits at. Andalusian gardens and small museum inside. Free entry, busy during the day, safe to walk around. People actually live here so it's active into the evening.
