Tokyo, Japan
The scramble crossing and youth shopping area with constant crowds and nightlife. Safe enough during the day and evening, messier after midnight. Pickpockets are the main concern in crowded spots.
Shibuya is the famous scramble crossing with neon signs, massive crowds, and lots of young people. It stays busy and well-lit late into the night. Police hang around the station area. You've got everything from cheap ramen vending machines to rooftop bars overlooking the crossing. Everyone eats alone here anyway, glued to their phones. It's fine during the day and evening, but after the last train around midnight the club areas get messy with drunk people. Shopping ranges from huge department stores like Shibuya 109 to random boutiques on side streets. It's younger and more chaotic than Ginza, less hipster than Shimokitazawa. English is common in tourist-heavy shops and restaurants.

Areas with comparable safety profiles for solo female travelers
Major train station with office buildings, food halls, and nightlife districts. Fine during the day. Kabukicho touts are annoying at night - stay on main streets or skip it.
Temple area with traditional shops and tourist crowds during the day. Gets quiet and safe at night. Watch your stuff on crowded Nakamise Street.
Old Tokyo neighborhood with temples, museums, and local shopping. Safe and cheaper than central areas. Less English spoken.
