Details

Ginza is the upscale shopping district with luxury brands and expensive restaurants where business people take clients. Police are always around, streets are spotless, atmosphere is quiet and polished even on weekends. Department stores and restaurants are used to solo business travelers eating alone, so staff don't treat you differently. Old-style kissaten cafes have jazz playing while you drink coffee. After 8 PM it empties out when stores close and workers go home - weekday evenings feel dead. On Sundays the main Chuo-dori street closes to cars from noon to 5 PM. Everything costs more here. Department stores and nice restaurants have English-speaking staff for international clients.
