Mumbai, India
Suburban area near the airport with restaurants and Hostel Mantra for budget accommodation. Far from tourist sights. Practical for airport access, not sightseeing.
Andheri is huge - split between Andheri West and East. Film production, ad agencies, and the domestic airport are here. Andheri West (Lokhandwala, Versova) is more upscale with restaurants, cafes, and young professionals. Andheri East has office parks and budget hotels near the airport. Lots of restaurants - Moonshine Cafe & Bar rooftop, August Cafe, chains like Barbeque Nation. English at restaurants and cafes for the professional crowd. Evenings and weekends the restaurant strips stay busy. Safety depends on where you are - main roads like SV Road and Veera Desai Road are lit with police around, but side lanes can be dark. Near the airport makes it convenient for flights. Hostel Mantra is here if you need budget accommodation. Far from South Mumbai tourist stuff and beaches though. This is a practical food base, not a destination.

Areas with comparable safety profiles for solo female travelers
Beach area known for street food. Safe during day and early evening with families around, empty after 9 PM. More about beach and eating than nightlife.
The main tourist area with Gateway of India, international restaurants, and markets. Police presence and English speakers make it easier, though you'll pay tourist prices and deal with crowded streets.
Mumbai's upscale neighborhood with restaurants, cafes, and a cosmopolitan feel. Safe and good for solo dining, but expensive and spread out.
