Cairo, Egypt
Most secure area in Cairo because of embassies and diplomatic presence. Quiet with limited dining but maximum safety at premium hotel prices.
Garden City sits on the Nile between Downtown and Old Cairo with curved streets from an early 1900s English garden suburb design. It's very secure because of all the embassies - the US Embassy means constant security checkpoints and armed guards. British, Australian, and other embassies create a security perimeter that makes this one of Cairo's safest areas. Luxury hotels like the Kempinski and Four Seasons along the Nile add more security. The downside is almost no street life - it's quiet and diplomatic rather than lively. Few restaurants or cafes outside hotels, so you'll eat at hotel venues or leave the area for meals. Walking around feels safe day or night because of all the security. It's 10 minutes walk to Tahrir Square and the Egyptian Museum. Think of it as a secure base, not a cultural area - good if safety is your main concern or you have embassy business.

Areas with comparable safety profiles for solo female travelers
Green residential suburb with lower harassment, good cafes, and a calm atmosphere. Far from major sites but works as a comfortable base if you don't mind the commute.
Cairo's safest area with tree-lined streets, international restaurants, and less harassment than elsewhere. Expensive and feels like a bubble, but gives you a break from the city's intensity.
Belle époque architecture, decent restaurants, and less harassment than downtown. More Egyptian than Zamalek, close to the airport, but far from tourist sites.
