The Saturday farmers market is busy and friendly, plus it brings in a good crowd which adds to the security. New Farm Park is perfect for hanging out during the day, and the Powerhouse has decent cultural stuff if you're into that. The ferry connections are actually pretty scenic and reliable for getting around. Since it's gentrified, it feels quite safe compared to the party areas, and there's enough going on that you won't get bored.
